Jim is an adult (age unknown), neutered male, declawed, special-needs, sweetheart/goofball who was found as a stray in August of this year. He has been living at Latrobe Animal Clinic since then and we have been trying to do everything possible to treat his medical issues so that he can be as healthy as possible in his new home.
Unfortunately, Jim has FIV so he would ideally go to a home with no other cats as FIV is a virus that is transmitted from cat to cat through blood. It is possible that he could live in a home with other cats as long as they are friendly towards one another, but if they were to fight, this virus could be spread. We do not know how he behaves around other cats or dogs at this time.
Additionally, Jim has a condition called nasopharyngeal stenosis which causes him to have a loud “snore” when he breathes and chronic nasal discharge. We did everything medically and surgically possible to help him and it has improved some, but he will unfortunately never be “normal” and requires nose-wiping. He will likely need medication such as antibiotics from time to time (although he takes them very well).
Jim has the funniest and sweetest personality despite all of this. He is very much a people-cat who loves attention. We all adore him and want him to find the perfect home with the perfect people who understand and accept his medical issues.
Please contact our office if you are interested in adopting Jim!
